Description

Laphroaig’s recent focus on wood maturation follows the same trail pioneered by the likes of Glenmorangie. Quarter Cask, Triple Wood and PX Cask, which were all matured in bourbon casks, followed by a finish in quarter casks, and in the case of the last two, a further finish in sherry casks, each mark a departure from Laphroaig’s traditional age statement releases. The new QA Cask is yet another, this time matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in virgin, uncharred American oak casks – hence the sub title, ‘QA’, being an abbreviation of ‘Quercus Alba’, the latin name for American oak. How long the finishing period was remains unstated, rather the term ‘double matured’ is adopted on the label. It could be months or years. This bottling is otherwise a Travel Retail exclusive. We have a small quantity on offer in a one litre format .
