We wanted to taste the Juniper. We wanted it to taste different to our Melbourne Dry Gin. We wanted it to taste amazing. The Single Shot is a gin made in a single distillation, unlike the MGC’s original Melbourne Dry Gin, in which botanicals are individually distilled then blended together. The result is a full flavoured gin, so much so it may louche (form a fine glazy mist) in a G&T or Martini, which MGC celebrates as a mark of distinction. Tasting note: Opening round of sniffing detects scents of woody, piney juniper, citrus peel, light coriander and trace anise combined with menthol freshness. Palate flavours are well integrated in a medium bodied, creamy melting pot of juniper, lemon oregano, thyme and cardamon. Finish sees the oily citrus and pepper notes take charge. Ends lemon lozenge-like, long and perfectly balanced.
