Mastaka Taketsuru, Nikka’s founder and the man known as the “Father of Japanese Whisky,” married Jessie Roberta “Rita” Cowan, a Scottish woman who he met when he was studying chemistry and whisky production in Scotland. Their love story is a famous one, inspiring the creation of Nikka’s Deluxe X.O. brandy.
Nose: intense floral and spice aromas supported by rich caramel and toffee notes. Fruity aromas of pear and
apricot are also evident.
Palate: Rich velvety texture with warming spices and concentrated flavors of stewed fruits, apricot,
marzipan, Pedro Ximénez Sherry. Subtle violets and jasmine follows
