The Muirhead’s whisky brand was created in 1824 by Charles Muirhead, one of the founding members of Macdonald and Muir Ltd. Now owned by the bottlers of ‘Highland Queen’, the whiskies are distributed in over 20 countries.
Tasting note:
Brilliant gold colour.
On the palate this whisky is almost identical to its younger sibling in terms of flavour profile. It does have an added spiciness that contributes depth on the back palate, an overall softer, rounder mouthfeel, and a greater uptake of vanilla.
Toasty oak aftertaste. Like the 8 Year Old, this is pleasant everyday drinking. 40% Alc./vol.
