The work in progress series has led us to this 7th release by the Glengyle Distillery. Matured for 11 years this single malt has experience exposure to Sherry wood allowing a richer, fruitier character to develop.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: First thing that comes to mind is the smell of clothes when they have been folded away and not worn in a while. There’s a orange zest scent, poached zest and caramelised. There’s squashed summer berries and wood smoke.
Palate: The sweetness from the orange zest is still there, a little bitterness too which travels well with the peat smoke. Lot’s of oils coating the palate, tobacco, leather and figs.
Finish: The finish is medium in length, it’s rather creamy and sweet. More citrus but now with a little white pepper and smoked kippers.
