Description

The House of Hine stands on the banks of the River Charente, deep in Cognac country. It is one of the oldest houses in Jarnac with over 250 years of history. Their VSOP ‘Rare’ is produced from over 25 Cognacs from both the Grand Champagne and Petit Champagne regions. In the latter, the slight difference in soils produces Cognacs close in style to Grande Champagne, but without the finesse. When Cognacs from the two appellations are blended, with at least half the Cognac coming from Grande Champagne, the result is permitted to be called “Fine Champagne Cognac”.
Hine Rare VSOP is a blend of Grande and Petite Champagnes (60% is the former). This is what’s known as a Fine Champagne. The cognac is aged from between 6 and 12 years, with most being around 8 years old. It is a stunning cognac with an excellent delivery. It was first blended by the eponymous Thomas Hine.
