A blend of 20 Cognacs aged for a minimum of 4 years, from grapes grown in the Grande Champagne and the Petite Champagne regions of Cognac. ‘H’ was developed by Hine in response to bartender’s requests for an inexpensive but highly aromatic Cognac for use in cocktails. To this end they’ve succeeded.
A VSOP from Hine. H is a blend of around over a dozen Grande and Petite Champagne eaux-de-vie with the youngest in the blend being aged for at least 4 years.
Tasting note: Burnished brassy / copper appearance. Straightforward, but clean bouquet with good intensity, offering scents of sweet leather, dried apricot and vanilla. The palate is soft, light to medium bodied with a low key profile of dried apricot, vanillan oak and creme caramel while remaining on the drier side. Very gently warming. Tails off rather too quickly concluding light, thin and remarkably short. Reserve for cocktails. Entry level VSOP.
