Tasting note: Matured in American oak casks for a minimum of eight years. Bright gold. Aromas of vanilla wafer, caramel and custard countered by straw / grass. Some balsa wood? Slightly rum-like after air contact. A middleweight, mildly oily grain with a pleasing balance of caramel, vanilla and emerging fruitiness. Glides through the finish which is judiciously spiced, crisp, warming. Good length.46% Alc./Vol.
Egan’s Vintage Grain’s lighter style compares very favorably to its heavier Pot Still and Single Malt cousins. Aged in bourbon casks for a minimum of eight years and with a nose of vanilla, oak fudge and hints of caramel, this single grain is sweet and characterful, with a charming complexity.
